Part 3

Hello, I am still waiting for my first question to be answered and it has been 1 hour? Should it take this long? I do have another question and wanted to go ahead and ask it even if I have not received the answer to the first question.

Part 3 - Decide which of the four research designs from page one (case studies, naturalistic observation, survey research, experimental design) would be the best way to answer, "Why do some people engage in anti-social or risky behavior? To answer this question you will need to develop a hypothesis and make your hypothesis sufficiently specific.

Answer: The best research design to test my hypothesis is experimental.

Answer: Hypothesis is: Early social behaviors from parenting, or the lack thereof, causes people to engage in anti-social and risky behaviors.

In the space below, describe exactly what you would need to do to test your research question using your selected research design. Assume that you have unlimited financial resources. I should be able to conduct the study using only your description as a guide.

1. For any design…specify your Sample-Specify who would participate in the study and how you would find those people.

Answer: Clusters of individuals are identified (all students at a university/college) and then a subset of clusters is randomly chosen to sample from (25 of the university/college on the list). Finally, individuals can be chosen at random from each of the target clusters in the subset (by randomly choosing 20 students from the list of all students at each of the 25 university/college in the target cluster subset).

2. Describe what specific behaviors you will be studying.

------For a naturalistic observation, describe what behaviors you would look for and in what setting you’d conduct your observation.

------For a survey, specify 3-5 sample questions you would include on the survey.

----X--For an experiment, specify the independent and dependent variables, how you would manipulate the independent variable, and how you would measure the dependent variable.

-----For a case study, describe all the types of questions and information you would be collecting/asking over time.

 Thanks!
