I need someone to make a quality assurance tester based on the information given in the attachment. Remember, this is not a real game. This is a collaboration assignment in which I'm the quality tester. A written tester with the information included would be great.
I need a quality tester in written form to show an example of testing our Multiplayer shooter app.
(remember this is not a real mobile app, but we must treat it as such) Terence you stated per APUS CLE. (n.d.) that “I will be responsible for helping programmers and
designers identify those obnoxious bugs that inevitably pop up during the development of a video
game”, I feel your contributions are well with the thought of what we will do in the video game. I would
suggest to hire out an agency though to test the app, as it will need to be run on a large scale, to see if
the servers can handle all the graphics and game play at once.
This is the artist Cassandra’s post from this week. Name: TBD
Genre: FPS
Color Scheme: Color affects the tone of the game more than people realize. Most first person
shooter games tend to have a sepia color scheme. The reddish-brown coloring combined with
grey and the occasional blood red for the gore, allows for a grittier, dramatic feel for the game
When trying to immerse the player in a realistic gameplay we want them to look outside and not
have a drastic difference from reality. I suggest we combine the dark, gritty grays and browns
with blue and orange sky settings and the occasional green overgrowth in the urban apocalypse
that Ariel suggested for design. We want to avoid an overabundance of bright colors so we don’t
get comic feel but we do need to incorporate vivid colors into the grays and browns of a typical
FPS.
Target Audience: The consensus seems to be males 18-40 but I think we should keep in mind
that, regardless of age recommendations and rating, the game will be played by many 16 and
under males. Studies have shown that 51 percent of teens under the age of 15play video
games (Sepos, 2006). We should keep that in mind during design and marketing. I also think
something as simple as providing a female protagonist can help to widen our market. I can
design both male and female characters for gameplay. The more people we appeal to, the more
successful the game will be. Allowing a choice in gender may increase the cost of production but
will aid in targeting more players. Throughout the years, FPS games have a rising trend of
adding female characters (Hitchens, 2011). This is something that is becoming more and more
common and I believe it would be beneficial to follow this trend.
Theme: Having read the designer’s(Ariel) feedback it looks as if a futuristic, apocalyptic urban
setting will be the setting. Is this what has been decided upon so I can come up with the artistic
elements of this theme?
Sound: Howie, do you have some sample audio that will encompass the feel desired for the
game?
Time frame: what is the estimated time frame for programming and production on the game? I
believe this is determined by the programmer but am not entirely sure. Projected release date?
Price: What can we expect to be estimated cost of production and marketing for the game? Is there anything else we need to determine in order to complete the necessary assignments? I
look forward to our continued collaboration. I can provide more artistic samples once these
factors are determined by the group.
Since we have the paper due this week, I wanted to go ahead and get you guys feedback on the design
document. I changed it all the way up to make sure every one's ideas were incorporated. Game Name – *You choose your own unique name* Game Overview
o Game Concept It is the year 2060. The world is in an apocalyptic
state. For at first, we were at war with the other
nations and yes we won but then people began to
turn against the government. A war no one wanted
to see. Now the world is sad and many lives were
lost. The country eventually ran out of resources so
the government made humans into machines by
injecting the “God Particle” into different soldiers
and the Gov. won the war. The government, more
corrupt than ever, is trying to gain power back.
However after a government assassin killed Kain’s
identical twin brother in an effort to get rid of all
“particles”, Kain is now on a killing spree. They killed
the wrong brother, Kain has the “God Particle”.
Killing and finding clues along the way, Kain the
Assassin, will find out who killed his brother and
soon become ruler of the nation. o Genre: First Person Shooter/Multiplayer o Target Audience: Males ages 18-37 o Setting: Apocalyptic Washington D.C o Game Flow/gameplay/objectives– The Main character, Kain, will shoot, kill, or torture
various government agents as he tries to get to the
leader. Objectives will be given in each level.
Different items can be scavenged for health or to
upgrade weapons. If the Character is on a kill streak
of 5 or more his “God-like power” will appear. Gameplay and Mechanics
o Gameplay How to move: Built in joystick control How to kill: Aim at targets (Gun shoots
automatically when aimed at targets) o Pick up objects: Press on highlighted items
Melee attacks: sneaking on target from behind
(Attack Automatically will happen once behind
target) Multiplayer: You and your friends with the "God Particle"
fighting to overtake Gov. Cassandra(Artist): You Gave great pics for the artwork. I think it will
suit this game design well. Also the urban warfare you
recommended I put into the design as well. Let me know your
thoughts ?
Joel(Programmer): You stated how my initial design was little too
ambitious for this project. lol. I understand completely so I dialed it
down a bit. I thought about your suggestions. Let me know what you
think.
Randall(Designer): We both want the design to be unique. There are
many alien war games and many scavenger games. It is really hard
to come up with a new concept because many things have already
been done. Also if its too far fetched, people will be unlikely to buy
it. I think a good story is what will save the game. Getting a
connection with the character by having flashback of his life with his
brother, and gaining a connection with the person playing by having
flashback going back to todays events that resulted in future
consequences. I incorporated an assassin lol. thoughts?

Great forum post this week. I think your design ideas will work well for our First-person shooter mobile
game. The theme is appealing to the targeted market. I will attach some art ideas for the apocalyptic
DC setting as well as for Kain and the militant "badguys" sent against him from the corrupt
government. I think the urban war zone setting will translate well and I have added some overgrowth
to the city's ruins to add a hint of color to the normal drab setting of these types of games. This will
allow a more realistic virtual playground for the players. I have also designed a female protagonist to
counter the male, Kain. This could appeal to a wider range of people to have more selection with
regards to main characters.
Let me know what you think.
Kain I look forward to our continued collaboration.
Have a great weekend, "Badguys"
Instructions: Class, I appreciate your participation in this forum. For this forum, create an original post addressing
the topic(s) below, prior to midnight ET on Thursday. Continue to follow your classmates' posts for
the remainder of the week and respond to two or more of your classmates prior to midnight ET on
Sunday. Your follow-up posts may add additional insights to a classmate's opinions or may challenge
posted opinions. Use examples from the readings, or from your own research to support your views as
appropriate. Be sure to read the follow-up posts to your own posts and reply to any questions or
requests for clarification. By the way, include the name of the person's post you are replying to
and your source for further research or reference. Thanks! Discussion Points: Each student will read the input developed by students in the other roles in Week 4 and critique or
suggest issues as seen from the perspective of their role in the team. They will try to reach a
consensus in this Forum so that the app can be finalized and production can proceed. This should be in
the form of a prototype. A prototype on paper is something that resembles finished software. This can
be a written description and may include pseudo code.
You will then reply to at least two students on whether you agree or disagree, what suggestions you
have etc.
