Paper Topic 1: Hacking Ethics
Description
Many ethical decisions are not based on existing laws. Ethical decisions involve using discretion to apply laws to different situations according to your values. At times in your career, you may have to weigh the benefits of a decision against the potential harm to others.
For this assignment, you will write a position paper about the ethics of hacking, to help you develop your own perspective and examine your values along with the laws involved in hacking.
Scenario
The ethics of hacking is a common topic among your tech friends and co-workers. Your team is considering using hacking for testing company resources. One day, your co-worker asks, "If there isn't a law against it, shouldn't we be able to do it?" What do you think?
Instructions
1. Conduct research about hacking using reliable, quality resources. Include the following topics in your research:
• Definition of hacking
• History of hacking
• Recent court issues and decision related to system access

2. Write your position paper about hacking in which you state and support your opinion about whether companies should use hacking for testing or not. Your paper should:
• Include an introduction with the definition of hacking
• Provide a brief overview on the history of hacking
• Consider recent court issues and decisions related to system access
• Include the laws about hacking in your research: hacking, ethical hacking, white hat hacking, and penetration hacking
• Voice your opinion on whether companies should practice hacking
• Support your opinion with your research
• Conclude with your final solutions or suggested actions
3. Save and submit your work.
Writing Requirements

• Your document must be double-spaced using a 12-point font with 1-inch margins and include your name at the top of the first page.
• Proofread your document to eliminate mechanical and grammatical errors.
