Discourse Community Documents Memo
Assignment Overview  You will demonstrate your understanding of the rhetorical situation by writing a memo that analyzes the purpose, audience, genre, and context of multiple documents produced by your discourse community.
Â
Rhetorical Situation  The context for your memo is based on your specific professional discourse community.Your purpose is to analyze a variety of documents for a new hire in that profession. Address your memo to me as your new hire and give me a title appropriate to your profession.
Assignment Details  You willidentify and analyze the purpose, audience, genre, and context of 3 documents produced by your discourse community. You may want to include documents that will help you write your future assignments (e.g. Recommendation Report, Self-Assessment, etc.) Whatever documents you choose, they should be relevant to your profession and its goals.
There are many ways to present your rhetorical analysis: compare and contrast, evaluation of usefulness, etc. You should follow a memorandum format, using headings appropriate to your task, while analyzing the four elements of the rhetorical situation. Organize your memo in a way that makes sense to you and your audience.
Separate from your memo, you must include an APA references page for your 3 documents.
