the US, political history in the US and social history in the US) Each sub-section, economic history in the US, political history in the US and social
history in the US, should be approximately one (1) type written page in length and

three (3) type written pages for the three (3) sub-sections.
The first draft submission of your Cultural Diversity Workshop Paper should be
approximately four (4) pages in length, which would include the Introduction and three
sub-sections and not counting the APA formatted title page and APA formatted
references page. All information presented from your sources must also be in APA
format throughout each section.
In this stage in the development of your paper you will be submitting the sections of
your paper in which you are introducing the paper and then covering the historical
background of the group about which you are writing. In introducing the paper, you want
to communicate to the reader a brief description of what the paper is about and the
order in which the various topics that will be covered will be presented to the reader.
With regard to the section on the historical background in the US, if you look back at the
complete assignment you will see listed the kinds of factors that you need to discuss in
this part of the paper (“economic history in the US, political history in the US and social
history in the US,”). Please remember that your mission here, and in the other sections
of the paper, is to present information from your sources in order to demonstrate your
understanding of the group you have chosen. The more information you present the
more effective the various sections of your paper will be in communicating your level of
understanding.
The information you present in covering this material will come from the scholarly
sources you are using for the paper and must be substantiated with APA citations
throughout these sections. (As specified in the paper assignment, you must use the
textbook and a minimum of five additional scholarly sources.) You will also include an
APA formatted reference section for the particular sources used in these two sections.
(In the final paper a single reference section with all references from all sections will be
included at the end of the paper.) Please see the guidance on what constitutes
appropriate scholarly sources in “Peer Reviewed Journals - Guidance and Instructions,”
which you will find in the Seminars section of the course. The section you will submit this week covers the current status of the group you are
discussing. You will address each of the following in this section of your paper:
Educational information (education levels, educational system, the role of education),
Family and religion (some considerations: the role of religion in family life, the roles of
women and men, multi-generational household or not, care of elderly family members)
Popular culture (fashion, art, music, dancing, traditions, cuisine, etc.).
Each sub-section, Educational Information, Family and Religion, and Pop Culture,
should be approximately one (1) type written page in length resulting in approximately
three (3) type written pages for the three (3) sub-sections.
This section of the draft should be approximately of three (3) type written pages not
including the APA formatted reference page. All information presented from your
sources must also be in APA format throughout each section.
Once again you want to make sure to present plenty of pertinent information from your
scholarly sources in fleshing out the details of the current status of the group you chose
for your paper. And of course you will be citing and referencing the information you are
presenting.
This workshop must be relevant to the student’s specific chosen career field. For
example, in a hospital, the dietitians and nurses must be aware that most Muslims do
not eat pork. Therefore, they should be aware that serving a Muslim patient a meal
containing pork is not culturally sensitive.
REPORT
The report must include a foundation, career application, and recommendation
for the training module.
Foundation A clear description of the group’s most relevant aspects of the culture and why
they exist.

3. A discussion of family and religion (some considerations: the role of
religion in family life, the roles of women and men, multi-generational
household or not, care of elderly family members),
4. Popular culture (fashion, art, music, dancing, traditions, etc.) and cuisine. Career Application Discussion of how the factors in the foundation play a part in their profession Description of possible real-world situations that would raise awareness to
potential conflicts between cultures and promote tolerance in a training module
that is relevant to the chosen profession. Optional: The student may also want to conduct an interview to become more
familiar with the group’s background, lifestyles, problems, and issues from the
perspective of a member of the culture. If the student chooses to include this as
part of the paper, he/she must ask the interviewee to sign a document
acknowledging that the person was interviewed.
