"The variable about news-gathering beyond the control of reporters and editors is that anyone can report news on the internet through today's technology. Every cell phone is equipped with a camera and recorder that can capture incidents from a bystander(Weldon, 2009). That bystander can add commentary to the clip and post it to a blog, YouTube account or give the content to a news station. Podcast connects content consumers with content creators in a way that no other content medium can (Morris, 2015). Many podcast are created to talk about a variety of topics and interview people knowledgeable about the topics. The voice that is heard on podcast can influence peoples views on certain subjects. The content posted my bring light to a particular incident or topic that the news didn't touch on, and that cannot be controlled by news staff."
