When we first think about investigating an incident, itâs hard not to start thinking in terms of guilt and innocence.
·       Who did it?
·      What did they do?
·      Whose fault is it?Â
·      (And the follow-on to that, who can we sue?)Â
Â
Yet as commented in the Readings, the focus of the investigation, and the loyalty of the investigator, should be to the truth. Is this a really different concept than finding out who is responsible for what happened? And regardless of that, what does it mean to say that this requires the investigator to be a âprofessional,â and to subscribe to and practice the values and ethics of that profession?
