A proposal is a persuasive document.

In this assignment, you will write a document requesting permission to conduct research in support of your topic choice for the final formal research-based persuasive report, assignment 5. This is a persuasive document that provides a detailed description of the issue, and how and why you want to research it. Its objectives are to:

Identify what work is to be done.
Explain why this work needs to be done.
Persuade the reader that the proposers (you) are qualified for the work, have a plausible plan and have the resources needed to complete the task.

What makes a good proposal? One attribute is appearance. A strong proposal has an attractive, professional, inviting appearance. In addition, the information should easy to access. A second attribute is substance. A strong proposal has a well-organized plan of attack. A strong proposal also has the specific details needed to sell your project.

Remember: A proposal is a persuasive document.

Required Format
You will be following APA format. See https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/
your essay should be typed, double-spaced throughout, on standard-sized paper (8.5" x 11") with 1" margins on all sides
use a clear font that is highly readable. APA recommends using 12 pt. Times New Roman font; I accept Calibri 11 (Microsoft Word’s default) but some professors will not
page header (also known as the "running head") at the top left of every page
page numbers at the top right of every page
title page, title on the first line of body of text, references on a new page titled References

For help setting up the paper see the attached document “Setting up the Paper.” For headings within the paper, seehttp://blog.apastyle.org/apastyle/2009/07/five-essential-tips-for-apa-style-headings.html

Content of your paper
Introduction: Request time to investigate the issue and briefly establish the need to do something about the issue. (Note: the introduction doesn’t need a heading—it’s obvious it is the introduction.)

Include the following sections in the body of your paper (not necessarily in this order):
Describe the problem or project you want to work on and explain its significance.
Summarize research you are already aware of (citing the source).
Tell where additional information may be obtained (and how much).
Describe the benefits of your research to your organization.

Conclusion: Summarize, provide time frame for reply.

References page: List at least four sources that you may use in your report (this is not binding—this list may change as you work on your report).
