For you, what is International Relations and how does the study of IR relevant to an ordinary Filipino today? Explain and Elaborate.
I see International Relations as the study of the interaction of actors in international politics, states, and non-state actors most especially the United Nations. It explains different perspectives and theories relating to the relationship and interaction of state sand other non-state actors. It gives you a broader understanding as to why countries do what they do, why foreign policymakers do as they do, in simpler words, their behavior and also why a head of states decides to do what’s is happening in their country. International Relations can be relevant to an ordinary Filipino today in a way that once they understand what foreign policies are and why they are made they can easily understand what kind of system the government will have. It can help them when it comes to their businesses, they would understand where to invest or who to have friendly relations with. IR will help an ordinary Filipino to understand why wars even start or why the Philippines still continues its ties or relationship with dangerous or too powerful countries, despite the hardships our country will face. IR can help an ordinary Filipino understand what is going on in the Philippines and around the world.
