Using the National Climatic Data Center website, or some other weather data collection agency as your source, find 10 days of data in the winter where the average temperature during that time span contained temperatures both above and below zero.

  1. Compute the mean daily temperature without a calculator, showing how you arrived at your final answer.
  2. Now check your answer using a calculator.
  3. Does your calculator have a special negative key for entering negative numbers, or is the minus key used to enter negative numbers?
  4. What was the largest change in temperature and when did it occur? Create a graph of your data and show your work to justify your answer.
