Question description

 

The idea of the social contract is that individuals enter and remain in society.  Thomas Hobbes philosophized that societies were essential to human survival.  John Locke suggested societies were actually formed so people could prosper in harmonious co-existence with their neighbors. Both have different views on human nature, and they also differ on what the state’s (government’s) obligation is to providing justice, survival and security as its part of the social contract.  In the post 9/11 world, which one of these two philosophies can deliver on justice, survival and security?
