Imagine that a new minority group entered the U.S. today. They have no racial or ethnic ties to any of the minority groups we have discussed in class. What experiences would you tell them to expect during the contact period? What advice would you give this group on the pathways into American society and/or strategies. Which group would you recommend as a model to this minority group, and why? Keep in mind the concepts and terms we studied, for example, contact and conflict, assimilation, integration, the Noel hypothesis, identity, prejudice and discrimination, being a subordinate group, the role of the dominate group.
