How to succeed in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo
Japan has begun to rebuild the Japanese economy to what it once was in the 1980’s
through 90’s since the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decided to host the 2020
Olympic Games in Tokyo. Japan decided to host the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo in order
to reconstruct the economy and return to the international social economy. The highways and
the Shinkansen, constructed for the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, were good legacies and
examples for living a comfortable life. It is important for Japan to utilize it’s experience in the
1964 Olympic Games to better 2020 Olympic Games that as using full use of the experience
to take place it better. The key points to improve are two points; gathering much money as
possible as Japan can and preventing some problems of contaminating diseases, crimes and
constructing. I considered how to take place the better one on the last paragraph based on
some analyses and statistics I researched.
For preparing and running the Olympic Game, the Olympic committee needs to
secure a financial foundation. The income of the committee is from sponsors, selling tickets,
paid money from IOC and some donations. The biggest income among them is sponsors that
are generated by marketing. The marketing means the committee acquires sponsored money
instead of it permits the sponsored companies to use the Olympic licenses for promoting their
own products and the Olympic Game. JOC that stands for Japan Olympic Committee has
been permitted to gather sponsored money by IOC since 2015 through 2020 when it takes
place Olympic Game. JOC has been making great efforts to gather sponsored money from
some private enterprises, therefore, that is one of the essential points for taking place the Kazuki Naka 2
better Olympic Game. The Olympic game is sponsored mainly by the twelve world
enterprises such as Coca-Cola, Toyota and some other ones. The local sponsor is divided into
three categories in which some companies are assigned by the amount of money they sponsor
for taking place the Olympic Game. The category one is called a gold partner. JOC has
contracted 10 enterprises as the gold partners so far. In addition, the members of JOC are 350
people who are composed of people from governments of Tokyo and Japan, groups of local
places, each sports committee and some private enterprises. The people for working in the
Olympic game will increase gradually to run the security system, preventing from a bunch of
cyber terrorisms, transporting and lodgings, drug problem, opening and closing ceremony, an
Olympic-torch relay, selling tickets, broadcasting, managing places where taking place some
games and some else. Finally, the working staffs of JOC will be about 7000 workers. JOC
must gather enormous sponsored money to run them. The governing committee of the
Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo is composed of five-expertise committees that are an advisory
one including the prime minister, a counselor one and some else ones. In addition, the
conditioning conference that is composed of the president of governing committee, the
governor of Tokyo, the Minister of Education, the Minister of Olympic and Paralympic, the
president of JOC and JPC that stands for Japan Paralympic Committee considers and decides
political ways of the Olympic Game.
I researched some problems in past three Olympic games: 2014 in Rio, 2010 in
London and 1998 in Nagano. In the Olympic Games in London, there was a transportation
problem that is also a one of the problems of the whole London city. There was a chronic
traffic jam and delay of subways that is the oldest one of the world. Since the subway is used
for a long time, the one has become too old. Solving the transportation problem was
necessary in order to four million spectators who came from around the world enjoy
comfortably. The solution for solving the subway problem was expanding several train lines Kazuki Naka 3
to increase a number of trains to carry as possible as they could. They decided to use four
different lines that was London subway, London Overground, Docklands Light Railway and
National Rail to stop Stratford station in the Olympic park. In addition, a cable car was also
one of the solutions. The sponsored company was Emirates Airline that is a one of the biggest
airline companies. The sponsored money for constructing it was 4.3 billion dollar. The
Emirates car cable was expected one of the sightseeing spots. In the Olympic Games 2014 in
Rio, there were some serious problems that were a delay of construction, contaminating by
Zika Virus and security problem. The most serious problems among the problems were a
delay of construction and contaminating by Zika. Taking place the game was the first time in
South America. Although Brazil got an honor for taking place it, they had fallen into serious
economic problem before the game. Therefore, some labors including constructers occurred a
strike. Consequently, the constructing the building and stadium for taking place the game was
delay. IOC was concerned about that till the beginning of it. In addition, they also have the
same fear for the next winter Olympic Games 2018 in Pyongyang because constructing in
there is also being delay. Another problem was a contaminating by Zika Virus that was
transmitted by mosquitos could carry the virus. The Zika virus has become a one of the
public health problem we should care these days. The symptom is a light fever, bloodshot
conjunctiva, muscle pain and so on. In fact, IOC researched about the Zika virus before the
game, and concluded that there was almost not fear of contaminating of it for spectators
because there were not the mosquitos around the space where took place the game. However,
some professional players including one of the Japanese golf stars whose name is Hideki
Matsuyama who supposed to participate the game quit to do because of that. There was
another Olympic game that was taken place in Japan before. It is the winter Olympic Games
1998 in Nagano. Although Japanese team was great team and got many gold medals, there
were several problems in background of it. The problem was concerned with money for Kazuki Naka 4
constructing the stadiums where the game was taken place. Moreover, the stadium was for
winter sports only. The profit of running the game was a surplus. On the other hand, the
running cost of the stadiums that was constructed for it has been deficit every year after the
game finishes because we have not used them very these days. We constructed them so much
without anticipating about it, in other word, they are negative legacies of the game.
I predicted the economic effect and how to take place the Olympic Games 2020 in
Tokyo better than the past Olympic games. The purposes taking place it in Tokyo are
increasing a number of sightseeing people and expenses for constructing and labors that will
be element to improve Japanese economic. First, IOC must consider constructing stadiums
very carefully. Especially, considering using ways of the stadiums after the game finishes
because they have already made the negative legacies of the Olympic Games 1998 in
Nagano. To increase the number of sightseeing people including spectators of the Olympic
Games 2020 in Tokyo, as I researched the Olympic Games 2010 in London, Japan should
construct public transportation ways to go to some other rural places easily. That will raise
the income and improve Japanese economic through the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo
because the sightseeing people will expense in the some other rural areas to spend a leisure
time. In fact, after IOC decided to take place it, Japanese government has begun working on
increasing the number of sightseeing people to achieve their goal that they want twenty
million ones by 2020. To achieve the goal, they deregulated the condition of getting
sightseeing visa for foreigner people. Moreover, Japanese yen has been weak these days.
Therefore, the number of sightseeing people has increased dramatically since between 2012
and 2013. Japanese National Tourism Organization said “we will achieve the goal by 2020
definitely”. The effect will be continuing after the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo takes
place. The Sinkansen that is a public rail transportation system is also one of the legacies of
the last summer Olympic Games 1964 in Tokyo. The constructing things including the Kazuki Naka 5
stadium should be useful for people even if the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo finishes. In
addition, the government of Tokyo has worked on deregulating and regulating some
regulations of gambling, the entertainment and amusement trade and the law of management
hotels. The scenes and states of Tokyo will be changed dramatically because of the Olympic
game.
In conclusion, the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo will bring us and Japan some
good effects. I researched and discovered some problems occurred in the past three Olympic
games, and they would be good learning materials for taking place the Olympic Games 2020
in Tokyo better than them. Japanese economic will be improved dramatically and definitely.
Japanese people use some legacies of the Olympic Games 1964 in Tokyo such as highways
and Shinkansen, therefore I wish they will construct some good ones that Japan will be proud
even the next Olympic Game for the future of the country.
