Project planning is a very crucial stage in initiation of a project.  Project initiation has to be managed very well because management is the core process that acts as a connector between all project activities and the processes.

In the initial stage the project management will answer such questions regarding the type of the project and the accomplishment that will be achieved when undertaken. This also includes looking on the objectiveand scope of the project; the management meets and decides on the information on why they need the project.

The worth and the effort required tackling the project will also be crucial at initialization (Schwalbe, 2009). They also look into whether it is worth the costs andefforts that have to be taken so as to accomplish the project are also important. In this stage the project managers are able to delegate work to the stakeholders who are important in the initialization.

After this the management of the project will look on the priority of the project in relation to other known projects. The most important projects are given high priorities than the one that can be postponed. At the initiation stage, the project management is able to gather information that it can compare with other alternatives and check the viability of each alternative.  The initiation stage justifies the need for the proposed project.

For a project to be successful, it is advisable that it will have a project sponsor who is a person or an organization that is in charge of development of the project.   Thesponsor finances the project initiatives and also approves ideas. The project sponsor also take care acts as a link between the project and the senior management. He also gives guidance that empowers the project as well as participating in initial project planning and scope.

He review and changes to the project and check on the critical factors to the success of the project, they are also involved in solving any conflict that may arise between the stakeholders through well laid communication strategies (Dinsmore and Cabanis-Brewin, 2011).

The project stake holders will be the responsible, who are designated in completing the tasks. The accountable who are people called to account for a task if the project is not completed, the consulted, they are not responsible or accountable but can be consulted about aspects of the task.  The other is the informed who holds a passive role and must be kept informed about the project.

Good relationship with this stake holders will lead to the success of the project, they affect the works of the project negatively or positively.  It is advisable to link the needs of the stakeholders and the project so as to succeed in the project.

Instructor comments from first assignment.

Here are the details for your grade: - Description of initiating processes and outputs: 20/20 - Description of the role of project sponsor in the initiation process: 18/20 - Description of the purpose, objectives, success criteria, and high-level requirements of proposed project: 15/30 - Identify stakeholders, their potential positive/negative impacts and/or how they might benefit from the project: 17/20 - Writing, grammar & use of APA style: 10/10 You have very general discussion regarding the initialization process and project stakeholders. However I don't know what kind of project you are running. Comments for improvement are to have more discussion regarding the project requirements (like timeline & budget, etc. ), who is your project sponsor and more specific information on project stakeholders. We would like to see the specific information regarding your own project. Overall, this is a great effort and very good start. Please let me know if you have any question. Keep doing the great work!
