Week 10 - Discussion: "Classical" Music in Twentieth and Twenty-first Century America
Â
Â
Now that we have been studying so-called "Classical Music" for the last 10 weeks, it is time to put everything into context.Â
Considering your favorite (preferred?) genre of music, discuss how you think "Classical Music" shaped your genre. Since we all "come from somewhere", you may need to do a bit of research on the origins of your favorite music if it isn't "home grown", so to speak.Â
American Public Media's "Composers Datebook" host John Zech reminds us, "all music was new once!" What does that mean to you? Does it change your perspective on some (or all) of the music that we have considered this term?
