In your initial post, give an example of a business situation involving conduct that might be considered illegal -- potentially exposing the employee, the business, or both -- to civil liability or criminal penalties. Explain how a code of ethics might help employees aim for conduct that exceeds the minimum expectations of law and thereby avoid potential legal problems. Suggest wording for a provision in a code of ethics that would help guide an employee through the situation you described.
