Case Study number one:

Case Study number one:

A man comes to your office for assistance. He is 44 years old, and has a wife and an 11-year-old daughter. He was laid off a few months ago and, as a result, the family has had to move in with the wife’s parents. The living situation is tight and very stressful.

The man is a veteran, who has diabetes and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He takes medication for both conditions, but fears he will not be able to afford them in the future.

He fears the stress the family is under will affect his daughter at school. He notices his wife appears to be depressed and easily angered, and he has given you vague information that his wife may have experienced anxiety issues in the past.

The man would like to find some income source to support his family. He would like to get his family into their own apartment, but is fearful of rental costs, including security deposits and first and last monthly rent deposits. He is also concerned about how he would meet utility and food costs if he did find housing.

Write a 300- to 525-word response for the case study. The goal of each response is to create an action plan to help the client through providing eligible social welfare.

Address the following in your paper:

  • Identify the client's needs and programs that would help them get back on their feet.
  • Provide an explanation of how the program helps the client and how you determine program eligibility.
  • In your view of human service workers, what challenges or barriers may the client experience (societal stigmas or bureaucracy challenges)?
  • What obstacles will you face during implementation?
