This is one of my absolute favorite sociological topics. Have you seen the movie Pretty Woman? This is a pretty famous scene that depicts gaining cultural capital. For instance, those of us (like myself) who were not taught how to use multiple forms of silverware for fine dining have limited cultural capital that individuals from higher class families acquire. This can be problematic for situations like job interviews.
I also came across this really neat article on Apple's advertising and cultural capital. What do you think Marx would have to say about the ways in which Apple markets their products?
