Purpose of Assignment 

The purpose of this assignment is to examine management fundamentals and to determine what it takes to be an effective manager. For this assignment, students will examine management within organizations honing in on the skills, roles and functions of managers. 

Assignment Steps 

Select an organization (current, previous or one with which you are familiar) and examine the management within.

Prepare a 1,050-word report in which you define what it takes to be a successful manager.

Include the following:

  • Describe management's responsibility within the organization.
  • Compare and contrast the three management roles and skills within the organization and explain why it is necessary for managers to play various roles to be effective.
  • Define the four functions of management and explain how each of the functions is used in the organization by managers.
  • Provide a specific example showing how each function is utilized by management.

Cite a minimum of two peer-reviewed references in your report.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.
