Our Written Assignment this week is not too tricky BUT you have to follow the directions precisely. Here are some tips:You are looking at two separate, unrelated events:

  1. A log buried in a flood of Holocene age
  2.  A Permian-age felsic volcanic unit (NOT a log buried in this unit)

You will need to pick specific dating techniques for each situation and your textbook has all the answers!  You'll want to make sure you read section 9.4 which discusses the dating techniques geologists use to specifically date rocks and other things.  Be specific!  The answer "isotope dating" is not specific enough for your assignment this week. And you only have to write 1 paragraph this week, not a whole page!
