The first step in taken to cause a change

Training Process and Needs Analysis: Fabrics Case Study

The first step in taken to cause a change is called a needs analysis. So, what is a needs analysis? There are various definitions; however, to simplify, a needs analysis defines a gap between the current and desired performance. Performance improvement, therefore, is the impetus for training.Needs analysis can be viewed as a good investment if the intent is to reveal performance gaps; yet, sometimes may not be necessary (for example: if the organization is trying to communicate a new vision). A needs analysis is not a one-time event and is systematic based on specific information gathering techniques. There is no easy or “cookie cutter” formula. Each situation requires its own mix of observing, probing, analyzing, and problem solving. A needs analysis should accomplish several important items:

  1. Increase the change that time/money spent on training is spent wisely
  2. Determine the benchmark for training evaluation
  3. Increase motivation of the participants
  4. Align training activities with the company’s strategic plan

For this task, write a paper in which you answer the question:

How would you develop a training plan and how would you justify the expense even if leadership was against the excessive spending?

  • Provide a rationale for your recommendations

Length: 5-7 pages not including title and reference pages

References: Minimum of 3-5 scholarly resources.Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your paper should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.
