Every week, you will be required to ideas to 250-300 word response paper reflecting on the readings for the week. As many of our assigned readings are shorter, you may find it more difficult to good response paper pertaining to only one of the readings, but at the same time, don't try to respond to every single idea presented in the readings during the week. While I do expect you to do the readings for each week, I don't expect you to provide commentary on every piece. You may find it helpful to only reflect on 2-3 of the essays, or perhaps on the chapters from the textbook. These are more informal papers, and as such you may use first-person pronouns. I expect you to write some thoughtful commentary on the readings and include connections between other previous readings, the course theme on the American Dream, or in relation to composition, research, or rhetoric. What I don't want you to do with these is to submit summaries of the readings/essays or personal reactions (which include statements like "I enjoyed this piece because...")
