Academic Success Plan: My Future Self

Academic Success Plan: My Future Self

All achievements begin as ideas. By acting as if we already are what we hope to become, we never lose sight of our goals. Imagine yourself graduating and landing your first job and launching your career as an allied healthcare professional. In this week's assignment you will write a letter to your future self-outlining your goals and celebrating your success.

Step 1:  Review this week's modules/ presentations and readings to complete the assignment.

Review your notes from this week in addition to your goal statements from week 1.

Step 2: Read the instructions for your prompt and write your letter.

Prompt: Write a 3 paragraph letter to your future self who has graduated from school and landed a great job in the allied healthcare field.

A tip to help you in your writing is to imagine that you are writing to yourself as your friend. What would you share with yourself as a student starting the academic journey towards a new life and career? Be sure to celebrating your success, recall accomplishments and describe where you see your career going in the future. Close with some words of wisdom to keep yourself inspired. In your letter to your future self, include the following 3 paragraphs:

  • Introduction: Remind yourself why you started this journey
  • Body: Celebrate your academic successes, accomplishments and next steps
  • Conclusion: Close with some words of wisdom to inspire yourself as you continue your journey

A framed paragraph has been provided to assist in the organization and communication of your thoughts. Framed paragraphs provide key sentence starters followed by blanks that allow you to add your own thinking. You are not required to use the framed paragraph, this is only a suggestion to help get you started.

You may choose to use the framed paragraph template below to complete each sentence with your own thoughts or create your own letter to your future self from scratch.
