What my teacher want: In each work on the course reading list, the protagonist undergoes a psychological and spiritual transformation, from rational-mind to oppressed or possessed. Write an interpretative paragraph that explores this theme. To do so, choose one work from the assigned texts- short stories.

 

Make sure you follow the template for interpretative paragraph. Make your claim in your topic sentence. That is, identify the specific stage in the transformation and where in the work it occurs. Provide evidence to defend your claim (One or two quotations, are fine. Then, explain how your evidence reveals the stage you identify.

 

Short story: "The adventure of the German Student" written by Washington Irving.

 

Topic Sentence: At the beginning of living's tale, Gottfried Wolfgang is stable and rational.
