For this week, we will be reading Olaudah Equiano’s The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano or Gustava Vassa, the African, Written by Himself. In this forum discussion, students will have the opportunity to discuss the reading for this week amongst each other. From Sunday until Thursday, this forum discussion will remain open, and then close sometime in the evening on Thursday. The quiz will then be made available for students to take on Friday starting at 12:00 A.M. and then close on Saturday 10:00 P.M. It should be noted that students have 46 hours to take the quiz, so that is plenty of enough time to complete the quiz. As students read Equiano's narrative, bring up and point out anything that resonated with you. Pay attention to the way his account unfolds from the beginning to the end. Attempt to put yourself in the shoes of Equiano, and constantly asks yourself what would you have done if you were in that situation? How does Equiano's narrative help us to understand more about the slave trade, that is, the trans-Atlantic middle passage, American chattel slavery and the Africana experience?
