Go to O-net and from the start page click on either the Skills Search button on the left hand side of the screen or the Skills Search link in the middle of the page, and complete the Skills Search assessment. Follow the instructions to complete your skills list.

Select two of the career options given to you based on your skills list for further evaluation. Compare the skills required and their degree of use with your preferred skills. Then go to the following link: http://www.bls.gov/ooh/ For the online version of the OOH, simply type the name of each of your preferred occupations into the search box.

From the information provided, report whether this is work that appeals to you. List 5 skills you would enjoy using in the performance of this job and 5 you would dislike. Then report the education level required for entrance into the field and what the average starting and median incomes are and whether or not this is within your expectations. If you are using the book version of the OOH, you may want to check the skills listed in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles.
