A recent research article reported that in laboratory experiments with human subjects, adults display an impulse to share and cooperate, even when it does not benefit them. If this is in fact the case, then how can we logically reconcile a human tendency to cooperate or share with the fact that income and wealth inequality has increased in the US in recent decades and is higher here than in any other Western industrialized country?
