Forum: Module 05 Discussion - Individual and Institutional DiscriminationÂ
Â
Individual discrimination is when someone shows bad behavior towards another race or gender group. Institutional discrimination is when an individual or group is mistreated by society as a whole. Individual discrimination is seen and heard a lot when people are referring to gay people and when you have people like this is your life it becomes a fight for you to stand up for these people who are just like anyone else. Institutional discrimination to me is when the people were fighting to not let the gay have the same rights as married couples have in society. I would start by teaching our youth that there should be no discrimination no matter what color, race, religion or sexual preference. Kids would teach the adults today a thing or to because they are so open to making friends with people of all kind. Making people come together shows people that no matter what race, religion and sexual preference that people all of the same color of blood and the line treat people like you want to be treated. I think unless people give you a reason to be mean to them, treat them with the dignity that they deserve. We could learn a lot from our youth because they do not have the hate until taught this by the people that are the most influential in their life. Be careful what you do and say in front of your children so that they can become their own people and learn to judge people for themselves.
