Secondary sources:

  • Your paper must have a clear, well-written thesis statement that is underlined.

  • Non-academic websites are discouraged,

  • Note for inclusive language policy (i.e. “humankind” not “mankind,” or “God” not “He”).

Religion and Public Health.

How does religion and/or religious belief inform responses to disease or the fear of disease? What can we learn from historic, religious responses to disease to better prepare us to respond to disease, the spread of disease, or fear of the spread of disease?

In addition to your primary source, you must reference in your essay three peer-reviewed secondary sources. This can be any combination of monographs (single authored books devoted to one topic), edited volumes (books that have chapters written by different authors) or journal articles.

Example for an analytical research paper

Analytical research paper: The analytical research paper often begins with the student asking a question (a.k.a. a research question) on which she or he has taken no position. Such a paper is often an exercise in exploration and evaluation. For example, perhaps a student is interested in the Old English poem Beowulf. She or he has read the poem intently and desires to offer a fresh reading of the poem to the academic community. Her or his question may be as follows: How should one interpret the poem Beowulf?
