360-Degree Survey Vendors

Hello class,

I chose to go with Halogen Software for the 360-degree assessment.  The reason I picked them is because not only do they offer different types of surveys, depending on your position, but also offer different solutions to increase your 'score' so that you can become a more effective leader.  

I have also been apart of a number of 360-degree surveys while in the military, but they are more commonly referred to as a common climate survey.  After reading through the material and watching the videos I realized its what they are, or a bastardized version of them.  They are used to evaluate not just one leader in the command but all of them and how the direct impact of the 'triad', top ranking three people, affect each of the sailors or how the sailors perceive their actions.  Though now having worked my through the different levels of the command structure I do realize there is a lot of room for error because of different peoples morals, the way the were raised, and what they view as fair and unfair.  So as much as they are good to get the different views of everyone there they are also skewed again because a number of people are afraid of telling the truth, from their eyes, because of fear of reprisal.  So all in all I guess I am neutral to whether they are helpful or not.
