NY PACE Program – How has CENTERLIGHT HEALTHCARE managed to remain the largest PACE program in
Nation. The Program of All inclusive care for the Elderly (PACE) is a Medicaid and Medicare program that offers
long term care alternatives for individuals 55 years or older. This program was created in order to keep
elderly individuals out of the nursing home and in their community by offering all inclusive services such
as primary care physician visits, prescription drugs, rehabilitation services, senior centers, laboratory and
ambulance services, skilled nursing facility care, medical specialty services, restorative/supportive
services, personal care workers, social services intervention, care management, respite care, and
extended home-care nursing hospitalization, and nursing home care if needed. The concept of the PACE
program is to provide health services in every concept, thereby allowing seniors to continue out their
lives with their families in their own homes. Centerlight healthcare is the oldest and largest PACE center in the nation with 12 PACE centers
throughout New York and Metropolitan region. It was founded in 1985 with the goal of helping members
enjoy the highest possible quality of life while living safely in their homes and communities. Centerlight
has managed to remain the largest PACE center throughout the years, however, recently they found
themselves in trouble by Medicaid due to Fraud which resulted in Centerlight having to pay back millions
of dollars. In addition, they recently had to sell one of their Managed long- term care programs. It seems
they have hit a downward spiral. Throughout my capstone project, I will focus on how Centerlight emerged into the largest PACE
program, what issues caused them to fall into legal and monetary issues, and what they should do to get
back to being the largest PACE program in the nation. Appendix A– Proposal Rough Draft Template
