Discussion 5 Osama Mahdi

Please read about Zeus in the article below and also on the internet.

http://www.sophos.com/en-us/why-sophos/our-people/technical-papers/what-is-zeus.aspx

Write a short summary in the form of a memo to UPPER level management that informs them of the problems, risks, and potential forms of mitigation.

Keep in mind they are not tech savvy, but they are corporate problem solvers looking well into the future.

I am attaching an example

Sunday Memorandum
To: Upper Level Management From: Osama Mahdi
Date: 2/19/2017
Subject: Zeus Trojan Virus This weeks letter is to inform you about the a very dangerous Trojan Virus known as Zeus or "Zbot". Like every
other form of malware Zeus is extremely dangerous and can cause a lot of damage. Zeus is most commonly
used for targeting financial information but can also be used to gain login information to other types of accounts.
What makes Zeus much more difficult than any of the other malware viruses that i have notified you on, is that
Zeus uses tricky and stealthy techniques such as disguising itself as other programs to remain undetected. This
makes it extremely difficult for them to be quarantined and also a huge reason as to why they have become so
popular among hackers. Another reason that are extremely favorable among hackers is that they also cost you a
fortune if hit, since they do mainly target bank information. The best the company can move forward with this information is keeping antimalware software as upto date
as possible and investing in some form of teaching environment for employees reminding them not to click on any
type of suspicious or unreliable links or sources.
I can be reached via response to this email, if you have any comments, questions or concerns.
Thanks,
Osama Mahdi. https://nmsu.instructure.com/courses/1051573/discussion_topics/3366377 1/1
