Issue Analysis: You will choose a current contentious public issue involving at least one business
firm and multiple outside stakeholders. To identify this issue, you might check recent stories in
the business press or general interest publications that cover business (e.g. Business Week, The
Economist, Forbes, The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, etc.). In
approximately 7 pages you will:
Briefly describe the issue
List the various stakeholders
For each stakeholder, identify an online or print source where that stakeholder expresses its
position on the issue. Briefly describe that position. Provide APA formatted references to those
online or print sources. (Your reference list does not count towards the 7 pages.)
Considering the various stakeholder positions, as well as your own insights, argue persuasively
for what you believe is the most ethically/socially desirable position. In making your argument
you will need to name and justify the criteria you are using to gauge the extent to which
something is ethically/socially desirable. In naming and justifying those criteria you should
explicitly refer back to our course readings, assignment, and any relevant online discussions.
Your issue analysis will be evaluated based on (1) your completion of all specified parts of the
assignment, (2) your identification and use of credible and appropriate references, and (3) your
success in connecting your arguments back to the course readings, assignments, and online
discussions.
