immigrants face

I need help in writing a two page essay about the book Bread Givers.

the following questions need to be answered.

  1. In what ways does the book say about the struggles that the immigrants face during the old world values with the realities of their new lives in the Unites States?
  2. How are the Smolinsky family's experiences similar to the other immigrants in the late 19th and early 20th centuries?
  3. how does each of the Reb Smolinsky's daughters help us to understand the boundaries of female life for immigrant women at the turn of the century?

       4. What gives Reb's life meaning and how does it conflict with the aspirations of his daughters?

      5.   How was Sara able to find meaning and autonomy in her life and how did her fate differ from that of her sisters?

      6.  how do you reconcile Sara's struggle for autonomy with the last line of the book? "It wasn't just my father, but the generations who made my father whose weight was still upon me."

Anzia Yezierska's novel Bread Givers is subtitled "A Struggle between a Father of the Old World and a Daughter of the New."
