Why are Carter and his party not called grave robbers?

1.Why are Carter and his party not called grave robbers? (regarding King Tut's tomb)

At what point in time or under what circumstances does grave robbing become archeology? By removing the contents of the tomb and placing them in museums we have clearly defied the wishes of the long dead society that placed them there, is that okay?

2. In the Christ as the Sun mosaic found in the Christian Necropolis under Rome, Christ is represented using motifs from earlier religions (Sol Invictus, a Roman sun god and his precedent, the Greek god Apollo).

Why do you think that is and can you think of other traditions or themes from religion or culture that have been adopted by others?
