Questions for week 4: answer question 1 and 2 of the options under question 2
1) What was "revolutionary" about the Industrial Revolution? (think in terms not only of technology, but also such things as the nature of work (when? how? how much individual control?), the organization of society, the effects on men and women, the impact on the environment).
2) Clearly the benefits of the industrial revolution were not shared equally by all in societies that industrialized, particularly through the mid 19th century. These differences are revealed in the primary documents for this week.Â
2a) What does the "Berlin Factory Rules" (BFR) suggest about the ways the lives of workers (the working class or in Marx's term "the proletariat") changed as a result of the IR?
