Maslow believed that the lower levels in the hierarchy would need to be achieved before a higher one could be met. For example, I would need to feel safe and secure before worrying about making friends.

Do you think this is a universal truth? Do you think that everyone's hierarchy of needs is the same as the ones described by Maslow?
What about the people that put the needs of others before themselves, how do they fit in Maslow's theory, or does an egomaniac put esteem needs before social needs
I find myself wondering if it's possible to have a different set of priorities, and wondering if an egomaniac can put esteem needs above social needs?
