The Final Act: Special Project: Due Monday, December 5 before 11:55 pm
Final Project
The Final Project involves four parts as listed below:
Part A - Read a Play
1. Select one of the plays from the list of plays provided.
2. Read the play.
Part B - Director's Concept - Analyze the play
1. You have now become the director of the play you selected from the list and have read.
2. You should read the play a second time thinking like a director and create your own concept for production of the play. This will include an over all look and feel for the play. How you want the story to be told visually on stage as well as what you want the audience to feel. Your concept should enforce the theme or themes of the play.
4. You will cast your show using well known actors. (Like Dustin Hoffman, Meryl Streep, or Maggie Smith. This is your dream cast!)
5. In addition to your "dream cast" you have an unlimited budget for production. Have fun designing both costumes and the scenic design that supports your directorial concept.
PART C - Written Support
1. You will write a formal paper supporting your concept (worth up to 100 points)
2. The contents of the paper should inform the reader of how you would approach the play. In other words, formally discuss in writing everything you invented for Part B.
Introduction: Remember that the introduction is when you tell the reader what you are going to talk about in the body of your paper. It must include the following:
Body: This is your content This is the most important section of your paper.
Conclusion: This is your closing statement.
3. Format:
PART D - Visual Support for your work
Remember when you were in a traditional classroom and had to do a project and present it to the class and the teacher said you had to have visual aids? Well, that is what this section is all about.
You will provide visuals support for your concept and designs. You may provide the visuals through a powerpoint, a youtube video or any other creative means that meets with my approval. I want this part of the project to be fun and creative. You are limited only by your own imagination.
