Suicide, week 4 discussion help

Question description

Please do a paragraph about this post with this instruction . post most have 4 or more sentences . you also have to have a high quality post from a content perspective. This means it also needs to do more than agree with or praise a class mate. If you agree with a classmate, explain why, give an example, share what you learned in the readings

Many Christians believe suicide is morally wrong and a sin; however, when a sinful deed happens, it does not necessarily determine ones fate. Individuals, who have committed suicide due to a mental illness, are not regarded as responsible agents (Meilaender, 2013). This is a hard topic to discuss for many individuals. Overall, I agree with the readings on this topic. I do believe that suicide is morally wrong and that we as humans should not judge those that have attempted or committed suicide. I do not know the personal anguish someone goes or the reason someone chooses to committed suicide. I find it so sad they believe that this is their only escape. I truely believe the fate of these individuals is not determined with this “sin.”

According to Meilaender (2013), Christians should not assist in or request the act of euthanasia. Some individuals believe it is their own right to do what they please with their body and life, but euthanasia is not an extension of personal autonomy. We are meant to live out our own life story, as faithfully as possible (Meilaender, 2013). Personally, I do not believe we as nurses should contribute with euthanasia or assisted suicide, but I do believe in trying to ease ones pain that is suffering to the best of my abilities. It is our goal to maximize care and not minimize the suffering (Meilaender, 2013). Hospice is a great example of helping a person that is suffering from a disease or illness by trying to provide comfort to a dignified death.
