popular media

1.    Find an article about health published in popular media and evaluate it as an epidemiologist. Provide a link to the article or copy and paste it into your document. What does the article tell you about the original research? Do you have any clues about if the author of the article interpreted the conclusions from the article correctly? You don’t need to find the original research literature, but use clues from the article you’ve found. As a consumer of popular media, you likely won’t look up all original media. Try to form some opinions based on your epidemiology training up through this point.

2.    Can you trust popular media? How will you know if you can trust “newly released” information about health?

3.    How do you think the general public reacts to popular media articles on health? Do you think people trust what they read? What do you think contributes either to trust or lack of trust?
