ESSAY REQUIREMENTS – READ CAREFULLY
The Wars is a novel of Timothy Findley written in 1977. This story is about Robert Ross,
a young officer from Canada. The events took place during the World War 1. This novel
is about human’s emotional experiences, disobedience, guilt, etc…
Many issues are touched upon in the novel and are worth talking about and discussed in
essays. But, you will discuss one topic. What significance do the animals in the novel have
when juxtaposed against the brutality of war? What do
they symbolize? What is the significance of the animal
imagery in the novel?
You are to write an academic, formal, literary essay, with an introduction, body paragraphs, transition paragraphs and a conclusion on the topic posted above. It should be no more than four
typed pages (750-1250 words, double spaced-including quotations).
Requirements for the Essay The support component will be assessed a mark of zero if the essay is not documented by parenthetical notation, and MLA works citied. Your primary text will be The Wars; however, you may use secondary sources such as print and
internet sources as long as you provide the MLA citations.
