Hello everyone. My name is Phillip Gatling Jr., and I am proud to serve as the committee chair for Grand City University?s strategic planning committee. Over the next 5 years each of you selected to be on this committee will assist in leading the university to higher heights. We will strive to improve the culture, values, enrollment, retention, and the overall educational experience for our students. It is my goal that we also continue to build upon the mission and purpose of our beloved institution. Grand City University believes that because demographics have shifted, we too must continue to grow and shift in order to meet each and every student where they stand. We must engage our students, while gaining and maintaining the trust and support of all community members (Tran, 2016). Research conducted by the notable author Buller alludes to the notion that identifying important stakeholders and establishing buy-in are the most important steps in creating and executing an effective strategic plan (Buller, 2015). Look around the room. Throughout the next 5 years, it is each of us gathered here today that will work tirelessly together to ensure that our students are excelling and prepared for the 21st century world at hand. There are numerous changes to be made to our institution, and it starts today, with us.
