call 2 friends or family and tell them and I am conducting informal surveys for an assignment. I would tell them that their information is confidential and that I will not be sharing their names or other identifying information. I would then tell them that I am asking them one question and will be writing down their responses. I would proceed by asking them the main question: What do personally believe is most important when trying to sustain a loving relationship? I would record their answers and also ask them follow up questions or what we call "prompts" to solicit more information if needed. Some people will talk a lot and others will be brief! If my friend provides me with a short answer, I might ask them what has worked in their current relationship? I might ask them how many loving relationships they have been in and what has not worked?Â
