globalization and technology

(451 Nor)  agree globalization and technology are tools that are use to create a larger bond between organized crime organizations and terrorist groups, Please provide example and suggest ways to fight it 200 word please list references

In response to the below statement

Linkages between terrorist groups and organized crime are not alleged. Although for different reasons, (terrorists have ideological/political/religious purposes while organized crime is strictly a for profit undertaking) these connections exist and have become an increasingly global challenge.  In the video "Organized crime and terrorist groups: comrades or chameleons?" Misha Glenny points to some examples of how organized crime and terrorist groups have join forces to achieve their objectives: The 1993 first attacks of the World Trade Center were funded by sales of counterfeit t-shirts; Al Qaedaâs usage of credit card fraud and the Colombian FARC alliances with various drug cartels to finance their operations.

These alliances are well described as a âmarriage of conveniences.â From creating new revenue sources, seeking expert knowledge and skill to operational and motivational support these alliances benefit both organized crime and terorists. As Louise Shelley succinctly notes with specific reference to organized crime, âcooperation with terrorists may have significant benefits for organized criminals by destabilizing the political structure, undermining law enforcement and limiting the possibilities for international cooperation.â [1]

Terrorist groups and organized crime are finding more and more advantages to joining forces and sharing resources. Globalization and technology have given them access to sophisticated and complex methods to continue financing and expansion of their activities and require an equally sophisticated international approach and coordination efforts to fight both.
