Editing and proof reading Character Comparison-Contrast, writing homework help

Question description

I  have attached the essay i have done I just need an extension of one or two paragraphs . and proofread the essay too. ensure to include the conclusion. Also include the questions along the answers. thank you .

Throughout my essay I will be compare and contrast “Happy Endings" by Margaret Atwood to another short story “The Bane of the Internet” by Ha Jin. I will also be comparing the respective language, style/tone that the author may employ in developing the characters, I will also see how this is different than or similar to the other character the other author is employing,  and how is the language, style/tone different or similar to the other character and why. I will thoroughly be focusing and evaluating both of the characters to use as my central focus in my essay.

In the short story “Happy Endings” the author Margaret Atwoods breaks the story up into six different possible life scenarios. In Scenario A John meets Mary and they fall in love with one another, they live with one another until there death. In scenario B John sleeps with Mary whom he doesn’t love, he treats her badly by using her body for personal gratification, the author states “He comes to her apartment twice a week and she cooks him dinner”. This shows that her husband John was very egocentric, and he didn’t find her valuable enough to make dinner for. In this relationship it seems as though John rules the relationship and his wife Mary will do anything just to keep him around. The author mentions that after she makes him dinner they engage in sexual intercourse where he then leaves all his dirty dishes behind. He doesn’t even take Mary’s clothes off she takes them off her. It seems as though Mary wants to receive her husband’s love and affection because the author states “She acts as if she’s dying for it every time, not because she likes sexual relations because she doesn’t, but so that he can try to get used to her”. Mary then begins to hear rumors that her boyfriend left her for another women Madge and so she decides to commit suicide because she realizes that he never loved her. The author states “Mary collects all the sleeping pills and aspirins she can find, and takes them and a half bottle of sherry”. It seems to be that Mary was an undeveloped character, because she didn’t try to change her life even when her friends warned her to leave, she kept on sticking around even when John decided to marry off to another women. Instead of Mary wanting to progress her life, she was caught up in a allusion that her boyfriend John would come running back to her even after she gave him everything he wanted. In scenario C Mary meets an older man named john who falls in love with her, Mary feeling bad for john decided to sleep with him even though she wasn’t in love. She meets another guy named James who she is fascinated by she describes James as someone who is impressive because he owns his own motorcycle and a fabulous record collection. John who is already married begins to express his love for Mary but instead Mary didn’t seem interested and called him boring. It seems as though Mary was leading the character on without even realizing that it was harming herself. The author stated “John becoming very jealous purchases a handgun and shoots both Mary and James, and then eventually kills himself”. In the other scenarios the author seems to describe different life scenarios that occur, but regardless of what life brings us we still all face disappointments, encounter death, we encounter betrayals because life is meant to bring different obstacles in our path.

In the short story “The Bane of the Internet” by author Ha Jin the major character Yuchin reaches out to her sister Sichuan about her life problems and her ex marriage. The author states how five years her marriage began falling apart  because her husband was having an affair with his female boss and always came home drunk. One night he decides to beat yuchinand kicked her in the stomach so hard where she had a miscarriage, she then filed for a divorce and decided that living alone was her only best option, she found her happiness and decided that she didn’t want to find another man, although others urged her. With a degree in graphic design she decided to dedicate most of her time working. Comparing Mary to Yuchin, Mary seemed to be desperate to find love, In all the different scenarios Mary was always with someone different, I guess this was a way she found comfort. On the other hand Yuchin decided to leave her husband after he beat her, she didn’t move on to someone different and decided that she felt more content living on her on. Then all of a sudden Yuchin decides that she wants a brand new car because she sees that her friends and neighbors own vehicles, she then asks her sister to lend her some money to own a car but her sister says no because she simply can’t afford to put down 10,000 dollars especially if her sister Sichuan needs to buy a new apartment. Yuchon then becomes very angry and starts sending her sister a lot of emails, the author states that Yuchin sent her sister a message “Elder sister, since you refused to help me, I decided to act on my own. At any rate, I must have my car”. As soon as her sister Sichhuan goes online to open the link she saw that her sister posted up an ad willing to sell her organs in order to buy a car. Her sister Yuchin getting nervous and scared decides to lend her sister the money that way she doesn’t sell her organs. This shows how yuchin is a very impulsive character, and is used to getting the things she wants, she can become outrageous by posting things on the internet I order to gain her sisters attention.

Compare and contrast the respective language, style/tone the particular author may employ in developing the characters. How are these different than or similar to the other character the other author is employing? How is the language, style/ tone different or similar to the other character and why?

The story “The Bane of the internet” is told in the perspective of an immigrant living in the United States and takes place somewhere between America, China, and emails exchanged over the internet. The literary devices used in the story is foreshadowing because yuchin states that she will have car no matter what, the narrator gives her sister money she saved for own future. There is also symbolism used throughout the story in relation to the theme, which is the car, the money, the location of the characters, the change from writing letters to exchanging emails. Based on my character analysis both Yuchin and her sister Sichuan are both static characters, she seems to not undergo any change throughout the story remaining the same at the end as they both were in the beginning. Throughout the entire story both sisters email one another, Yuchin seems to convince her sister into giving her money by posting an ad online stating that she was willing to sell organs in order to receive 10,000 for her car, her sister fell for her trick and decided to lend her sister the money. It seems as though Yuchin is the parasite and seems to cringe to her sister whenever she needs money, Suchin seems to be the hard worker since she works seven days a week ten hours a day in a sushi restaurant, and also has the tendency of letting her sister run over her.

Symbolism was used in the story Websites used:
