This is your first assignment as an economic consultant for developmental issues. Choose
a developing country of your interest. Access the World Bank database1 and collect data
on socioeconomic indicators (such as income, health and education, poverty, inequality,
population, etc.) over a period of time.2 Provide a general picture of trends and
variations in your variables, with graphs, statistics, and/or tables, and explanations for
the choice of the variables. Based on the theory and discussion we had in class, analyze
the relationship between them and provide some policy suggestions to the government
of the country. Notice that your grade for this project will be a function of the
completeness of the analysis and the deepness of your policy suggestions.
