The play Macbeth is an interesting story about a dark violent tragedy. It has everything one could ask for; betrayal, ambition, witches, royal intrigue and murder.
The theme of MacBeth is dark and gloomy because its based on greed, lies and blood. Theses all serve as ways to tear a family and a kingdom apart. MacBeth was a brave Scottish general who receives prophecy from a trio of witches that will one day help him become king of Scotland. Absorbed by desire and spurred into action by his wife, MacBeth murders King Dunkin. He is dealing with conflict because his mind is tortured with guilt and paranoia. He has all the characteristics of a tyrant ruler and feels the need to commit more murders to protect himself from cagey behavior. The climax hits when the civil war takes a toll on MacBeth and Lady MacBeth, for example, the Astor Place riot and the famous quote, " Out, out, damned, spot!" was fore shadowing of the torment and torture that the Macbeths were going to experience. There was conflict going on with the curses of the witches. The three witches who appeared play an important catalytic roll that propel MacBeth to pursue being King. This symbolizes fate, temptation, evil, and supernatural. Although the character Macbeth starts as a nobel and respected leader, the outside sources of the prophecy and Lady Macbeths greedy encouragement transformed him into the final character that we see in the end.
