In Class Interviewing Exercise 9- Conducting the Employment Interview

Purpose: To hone your skills at posing employment questions and at answering them.
( In this assignment our focus is on the interviewers, but pay attention to the interviewee role too.)
 We will break up in groups of 4. One person will be the observer, taking notes about the questions and answers. One person will closely observe. One person will  film at least 3 exchanges form different stage of the interview ( rapport building stage, Q and A stage, Closing stage) [ If you want to record the entire interview, you can do so.)
 Post your assessment of the interview as interviewer or interviewee or observer.Â
We will keep it simple. Pick one of the roles you assumed and post on that one only.Â
See below for more specific instructions. ( If you post as interviewer, include the set of questions you wrote up.)
 We will watch the videos in class and talk out your observations.

As interviewer:
Write up an interview schedule, 5-8 questions, appropriate for interviewing an applicant for the latest job you have held.
Use the questions and ideas from (Anderson, Ch. 8, Anderson, p. 206- 209)
 Interview a classmate.
 Tell the interviewer what the job is before you start, so they can tailor their answers/experiences to your questions)Â
Post your assessment of the interview as interviewer or interviewee or observer.Â
Include your assessment of the schedule of questions in your post.
You can use this to guide your assessment, but you only need to use the questions that are appropriate.Â
