My Idea of a healthy community is a place where people have good emotional and physical health. It will also promote wellness, a high quality of life, and contribute significantly to people’s ability to thrive. There will be physical assets such as buildings, parks, Clean safe public spaces and provide opportunities for exchange and interaction. It will also provide individual community members with opportunities for personal growth, and improvement. Individuals will be able to gain knowledge, develop skills, talents, and abilities including the ability to express themselves creatively. Healthy communities should address quality of life for everyone, have resources that enable people to support each other, a strong economy and employment opportunities (lack of poverty) and health care and health services. (Community Cheer,2011) As a professional nurse I would be prepared to meet the needs of all patients regardless of race, age, language, income, religion, or sexual orientation. I would provide education in areas like, screening for diseases, nutrition and teenage pregnancy, I would also teach and provide resources for individual situations. I would also practice cultural competency.
