There are many different reasons a writer may feel compelled to write about literature.  Some people are driven by passion, or a need to express themselves while inspiring others in the process.  Alot of writers try to help readers view the world through their eyes by attempting to greatly influence them in the form of literature.  I have always found poetry to be both educational, and profound depending on the poet.  When I read works for art written by Langston Hughes during the Harlem Renaissance, or the writing of Maya Angelou it touches a deep place withing my soul.  Those writings speak to me just like the writing of President Abraham Lincoln, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  They are works of literature the compel you to action!

Literature is a great benefit because it helps you to learn, and gain an understanding of the who, what, when, and how's of life.  My dad use to always say, "you can't understand where you are going unless you know where you came from".  Literature is the avenue that allows for that first hand, since television wasn't created until 1927. Mitchell Stephen (2000), and the computer much later.  Reading has always been the tool that was utilized throughout the centuries, and remains the main tool of comprehension to this day.

Book reviews are another way to write about what the writer is writing about.  It gives the reader the opinion of the reviewer, and helps them determine if their take on the book is good or bad.  However, reading is so individualized that I have always found it difficult to depend on someone else's opinion of what I would find interesting or not.  Writing and reading both open up a brave new world of expression, and gaining to skills necessary to clearly express myself will be key in both my personal and professional life.
